In order to use our web hosting services at Howling Media, you first need to point your domain to our servers.
This is a simple step-by-step process that I will walk you through right now.
You are in one of 3 situations:
If you have a domain already and don’t wish to transfer it, you can still use it for hosting on Howling Media’s servers.
Go into the settings for your domain, and look for the DNS settings.
In here, look for settings related to the nameservers of your domain.
For Nameserver 1, enter: ns1.howling.media
For Nameserver 2, enter: ns2.howling.media
These are Howling Media’s nameservers, meaning that you can point any domain you own to our servers using them.
Keep in mind your registrar may have the nameserver settings somewhere other than in the DNS settings, but it’s a good first place to check.
Also keep in mind that after changing your domains nameservers, it may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours for the changes to propagate, although the change is usually done quickly.
If your domain is registered with another registrar and you wish to have it registered with us instead, here’s how to do it.
Go into the settings of the registrar that your domain is registered with.
Look for an EPP code. This code is what authorizes the transfer of your domain.
Keep in mind some registrars lock domains, so you may have to contact their support in order to unlock it for transfer.
The benefit of transferring your domains to Howling Media is two fold.
If you don’t have a domain, you can register one at Howling Media, or at any other domain registrar.
Choosing to register your domain with us means that your domain will automatically be pointed to our servers, and you won’t have to worry about any other steps. You would then sign up for hosting and be on your merry way.
That’s it! Now you can enjoy Howling Media’s fast professional web hosting for any of your domains.
